Koala, King of Australia by Michael Sandford

G’day mates! Howzit going?

Excuse us for the quietness as of late. Things have settled down and we have gotten into a rhythm of working and chilling out.  We are looking at a few adventurous options along the horizon but we don’t want to share anything about them yet until we get some confirmations.

Until then, Jason and I are putting together the finishing touches on creating a custom design for this website, which we will soon unveil! I have been illustrating some elements and researching koalas when I chanced about this lovely gem!

Jason and I are really close to wrapping things up with our design. Stay tuned for changes and new adventures.

Our Geekery Is International

G’day mates! Howzit going?

Jason and I are self-proclaimed geeks. We love science fiction, space, superheroes, comics, computers, gadgets, new fangled technologies, video games, board games, card games, and in particular, Magic: The Gathering.

During a trip through the plethora of interconnected malls one day, we chanced upon a comic book  and games shop, Ace Comics & Games. They also sold MTG cards and held constructed deck tournaments on Saturday afternoons, so we’ve been attending those for a couple weeks. It wasn’t until last week that we went to another Ace Comics & Games location in Annerley which was just a short bus ride away from the city for Friday Night Magic.

For us, going out to play cards is an entertaining way to spend the evening and meet new people. It’s tough enough to be so far away from what you’re used to, that it’s a pleasure to partake in familiar activities and easier to make friends with like interests.

Not sure if you were prepared to learn how far our geekery went but you’re still reading this, so that’s a good sign that you still love us.

Here are photos of what we had for dinner on our evening of geekery. Clearly not the healthiest dinner ever, but it was was very late in the evening and we were starved by the time we got back to our neighbourhood. What’s missing from these photos, to truly emphasize and complete the typical geek stererotype, are cans of carbonated goodness.

My ultimate meat lover’s pizza slice.

Jason’s delicious chicken pita.

No matter where you are, at home or abroad, sharing your interests and participating in local events are just a few easy way to make friends.

Until our next geek-out, sprinkle hearts!

Happy Birthday To A Canuck Mum

G’day mates! Howzit going?

It’s just another Friday here in Aussie-land but back in Toronto, they are going to enjoy a beautiful, lovely Friday to kick off a holiday long weekend. They will be celebrating Victoria Day also known affectionately as “May two-four”, a statutory holiday on the last Monday before or on the 24th in honour of Queen Victoria. Friends often go out to cottages, take day trips and generally enjoy nature and the good weather to come by eating and drinking their faces off on patios and cafes. Then there’s a big firework show in the evening at Ontario Place, Toronto.

This Friday is also special because a Canuck Downunder’s mum is celebrating her birthday. Though we are far away, we send our love to this magnificent lady and hope that she has a lovely day.

Big hugs and sprinkle hearts!
