Happy Canada Day

G’day mates! How ya going?

We may be far away but we’re still Canucks Downunder! Jason and I are currently in Sydney, Australia so that Jason can attend Google DevFest 2010. It’s been pretty exciting so far though we are only here for a couple of days, we’ll try to fit in as much of Sydney as possible.

Upon our arrival to Sydney’s Central train station, I spotted someone with a Maple Leaf’s jersey. I cheered and hollered at him “Go Maple Leafs! Yey Toronto.” but he did not look amused at all. I don’t even think he knew what he was wearing. Yet another silliness on my part, but I think it’s just nice to meet other Canadians and fellow Torontonians, even more so.

We hope you all enjoy this glorious Canadian holiday! Until next time, sprinkle hearts!

Tidbits For Nibblets and Google Love

G’day mates! How ya going?

Clearly, things have been quiet on our journal here but they haven’t been THAT quiet at all. We’ve got some eventful adventures to share, so bear with us. When we aren’t caught up with projects and assignments, we’ve been seeing friends and chilling out. We can’t wait to write up some proper news for you so stay tuned.

Until then, here’s a few little misadventure for ya!

I brought along my Skullcandy headphones on assignment and when I was just putting them on, one side broke. I wasn’t even being rough with it at all! The big poofy ear snapped off and it’s barely held together by the wires. Luckily, it still works, it just doesn’t contain the sound or cancel noise for obvious reasons. I’m bummed out about it because it hadn’t even been a year since I bought it and I was kinda hoping it would last much longer as I’ve been slumming it with $8 dollar ear bud headphones  for ages before deciding to upgrade.

Well, this misadventure was kind of a bummer, eh? I wouldn’t want to end it on a sour note so guess what!?

Jason and I will be heading off to Sydney at the end of the week! Yey! He will be attending Google’s DevFest 2010, Sydney Australia and I get to tag along. Don’t you love it when things work out? Even more when work and play are one and the same! Hot stuff, I’m super stoked and Jason, even more so. He even got himself a new love, the HTC Desire. Its very name evokes hot, fiery, flames of lust and in my case, jealousy! He hasn’t been able to tear himself away from his new mistress.

So there you go, quick updates to fill your stomach. Speaking of which, it’s dinner time!

Until next time, sprinkle hearts!

Our Geekery Is International

G’day mates! Howzit going?

Jason and I are self-proclaimed geeks. We love science fiction, space, superheroes, comics, computers, gadgets, new fangled technologies, video games, board games, card games, and in particular, Magic: The Gathering.

During a trip through the plethora of interconnected malls one day, we chanced upon a comic book  and games shop, Ace Comics & Games. They also sold MTG cards and held constructed deck tournaments on Saturday afternoons, so we’ve been attending those for a couple weeks. It wasn’t until last week that we went to another Ace Comics & Games location in Annerley which was just a short bus ride away from the city for Friday Night Magic.

For us, going out to play cards is an entertaining way to spend the evening and meet new people. It’s tough enough to be so far away from what you’re used to, that it’s a pleasure to partake in familiar activities and easier to make friends with like interests.

Not sure if you were prepared to learn how far our geekery went but you’re still reading this, so that’s a good sign that you still love us.

Here are photos of what we had for dinner on our evening of geekery. Clearly not the healthiest dinner ever, but it was was very late in the evening and we were starved by the time we got back to our neighbourhood. What’s missing from these photos, to truly emphasize and complete the typical geek stererotype, are cans of carbonated goodness.

My ultimate meat lover’s pizza slice.

Jason’s delicious chicken pita.

No matter where you are, at home or abroad, sharing your interests and participating in local events are just a few easy way to make friends.

Until our next geek-out, sprinkle hearts!
